FAQs

All Shai Guitar Academy courses from The Archives as well as the ongoing Monthly Focus are built with an incremental structure in mind. This makes them accessible and valuable for a wide range of levels.

The main split between the Medicine Music Academy (beginner-level) and Master The Fretboard (intermediate level) materials (which you will both have access to as a member) is a good indication to start with when attempting to find courses suited for your level.

The MMA beginner level courses require only the following prerequisites: * Familiarity with the 7 basic chords: Am, C, G, D, Dm, Em, E

* Being able to read tabs & chord diagrams

* Basic positioning of the guitar

The intermediate - advanced courses are designed for players with at least 1-2 years of experience.

Yes! The Community covers a wide range of levels. This is done intentionally, because it is very inspiring to see what (else) is possible on the guitar journey.

As a member you will have access to ALL materials. However, just like when you are a member of your local library you will not attempt to try to read all books, you will choose the materials that are appropriate for your level and will bring you to your next level.

The Medicine Music Academy beginner level courses require only the following prerequisites:

* Familiarity with the 7 basic chords: Am, C, G, D, Dm, Em, E

* Being able to read tabs & chord diagrams

* Basic positioning of the guitar

Consistency is the key!

We usually recommend to commit to 20-30 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week, in order to build momentum and notice progress every month.

Of course, the more the better, but long term consistency is much more effective than very long, yet irregular practice sessions.

Setting up a regular time in the day for your practice is a great strategy to build the habit and sense of progress and satisfaction.

You can post your own practice videos in the Shai Guitar Video App (our private space).

All practice videos are being reviewed by Shai or one of the other team members. You will receive personal feedback and guidance (usually within 48 hours).

When needed, clarification videos will be provided. In other cases you may be tagged in a video response to another member (often many participants share the same challenge). In addition to that, you can post additional questions / challenges in the Shai Guitar Video App or in the bi-weekly live masterclasses.

We have 2 live masterclasses each month:

1) 1st Sunday of the month, 8:00 CET / 11:00 PT -

That's where we focus more on the beginner level content

2) 3rd Sunday of the month, 8:00 CET / 11:00 PT -

That's where we focus more on the intermediate - advanced content: improvisation, scales, technique & fingerstyle.

All of the live masterclasses are being recorded and shared with the program's participants, so you can watch them later in case you are not able to attend.

The great thing about the way our Community is structured, is that it is very flexible!

Live happens, things get in the way, you fall off the boat sometimes... No worries, you can just re-sync back with the group in the Monthly Focus when you have the space.
